The Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), a governmental entity operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, was established in 1979. The office endeavors to serve as a leading agricultural economics navigator and to establish itself as a highly efficient agricultural information center by the year 2027.

The office is structured with four key missions:

1. Develop and administer agricultural information systems: This entails the establishment and management of systems for gathering, organizing, and disseminating agricultural information.

2. Conduct research, analysis, and studies in agricultural economics: The OAE conducts in-depth research and analysis on various aspects of agricultural economics, producing reports on the economic conditions of agriculture at both national and international levels.

3. Formulate policies, devise development plans, and strategize agricultural initiatives: The office is responsible for formulating policies, crafting development plans, and strategizing initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability. This includes engaging in agricultural trade negotiations and fostering economic collaborations among nations.

4. Undertake monitoring and evaluation of significant plans and projects: The OAE is tasked with monitoring and evaluating the implementation of important plans and projects within the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to ensure their effectiveness and efficiency.

To effectively carry out these missions, the office is structured with two support units, seven central agencies, and twelve provincial agencies.

OAE’s activities :

1. Developing and managing agricultural information data.                                                           

2. Conducting study, analysis, and research, and preparing situation reports on agricultural economic both domestically and internationally.

3. Proposing policies, formulating development plans and agricultural measures, establishing the negotiation position and participating in meetings which concern trade of agricultural products and economic cooperation between Thailand and trading partners.       

4. Monitoring and evaluating plans and projects of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.                                                                                                                                                  

5. In addition, we have established our goal to excel in agricultural information and agricultural development plans which will be a cornerstone for the balanced and sustainable agricultural sector
