DASTA is a government organization (public organization) established in accordance to the Royal Decree of 2003 to comply with the government’s policy on developing tourism to increase income among local communities; through the integrating administration and management of designated areas for tourism.
DASTA is established as the center organization responsible for developing policy and strategy plan, and coordinating between authorities, local communities and tourism destinations. It is also responsible for promoting and developing areas with potentials in tourism by coordinating relevant stakeholders create quality tourism administration management, including mobilizing personnel, budget and tools, and solving problems promptly to achieve its goals.
Organization’s activities :
DASTA works to create sustainable tourism development in 9 designated areas by (1) coordinating the integration of all stakeholders for the development of the designated areas according to the objectives and purposes of each area’s establishment, (2) promoting the development of knowledge, information, researches and modern innovations in order to create sustainable tourism model in Thailand, and (3) supporting stakeholders in developing sustainable tourism management.
DASTA’s designated areas located all around Thailand consisting of consisting of DASTA Koh Chang Archipelago, DASTA Pattaya, DASTA Sukhothai, DASTA Loei, DASTA Nan, DASTA U Thong, DASTA Songkhla Lagoon, DASTA Chiang Rai, and DASTA Bang Kachao.
